Breaking-In

Breaking-in, or “starting” is one of the most important elements in the development of a racehorse to achieve success on the track. Education of a young horse - done the right way ensures a yearling is taught correctly from the beginning, at a pace that suits the individual. We pride ourselves on the start we give young horses in our Newington education process and treat each horse to suit their differing temperaments and maturity.

Our breaker Dan Parsons and Kacy Blaxland work closely on each individual horse to ensure they relaxed, well-rounded young horses prior to departure to their future trainers.

Spelling

Newington began as a spelling farm and it’s in our DNA to ensure each horse is well rested and cared for to the highest level to have the right amount of condition on prior to departure. Whether it be a freshen-up or a longer break for your horse, we tailor feed and care to the individual to ensure they get the most from their time in the paddock whilst at Newington Farm.

Pre-Training

Headed by Kacy (Fogden) Blaxland - Newington features a 50 horse stable complex, Walker, Dressage Arena, High-speed treadmill, Sand-Roll and a private 800m Fibre-Sand Training Track. We work our Pre-Trainers 3 alternating ways via Treadmill, and under saddle in our fibre-sand dressage arena and on our 800m fibre-sand training track. We’re blessed with excellent riders and prioritise time and patience over numbers with our client’s horses in training at the farm.

Rehabilitation

Newington Farm offers world class rehabilitation for horses returning from injury, via programs led by our resident racehorse veterinary team and on-farm staff. We are in close proximity to both Gatton University Hospital and Scenic Rim Veterinary Clinic and uphold best practise methods to give horses their best opportunity to return to racing in good health.
